AUSTIN—Daiso Japan has leased 6,820 square feet of retail space at The Crescent, a grocery-anchored retail center located at 6929 Airport Boulevard, for its first Central Texas location.
Britt Morrison, Brett Maze and Cameron Longmire with Weitzman handled negotiations as exclusive project leasing agents for the retail center. Skyline Commercial Real Estate represented the retailer.
At The Crescent, Daiso Japan joins a line-up that includes 99 Ranch Market, 85°C Bakery Cafe, Kinokunlya and several others. In fact, Daiso is the fourth global retailer to make its Austin debut at The Crescent.
Daiso Japan, with approximately 3,400 stores in Japan and over 5,000 stores worldwide, is often called “the Japanese dollar store,” but the retailer notes that its "cute 'kawaii' designs and unique kind of value simply cannot be compared to other dollar stores. We pride ourselves on the quality, variety, and uniqueness of our wide-ranging product line, which includes everything from stationery to cosmetics to home goods."
The stores offer a taste of Japanese culture with origami paper, calligraphy tools, obento products, sensu fans and other traditional Japanese items.
Daiso Japan locations each offer approximately 20,000 household products including kitchen items, laundry items, stationery, pets, snacks, cosmetics and toys.
“Daiso is the perfect tenant to complement the unique combination of dining, retail, and services at The Crescent,” says Allan Davidov, owner of The Crescent. “They were a key component of our development vision from the start and we are thrilled to add them to our tenant mix.”
He added, “Daiso’s commitment to open in Austin during these unprecedented times is further validation of this community’s bright future.”
